Middle School Youth
Finding Your Place
Middle school is a season of big questions. We’re here to help students explore faith, build friendships, and discover the core doctrines of the Christian faith.
A Pivotal Season
Middle school isn’t just a bridge between childhood and high school—it’s one of the most formative seasons of life.
This is when students begin asking the questions that matter most: Who am I? Where do I fit? What do I actually believe? They’re no longer content to inherit their parents’ faith without examining it for themselves.
At City Grace, we see this as an incredible opportunity. We want to create a space where students can wrestle with real questions, find community with peers who are on the same journey, and make their faith their own—not just something they’ve heard about from adults.
Our goal isn’t to entertain students or keep them busy. It’s to help them build a foundation of faith that will carry them through high school, college, and the rest of their lives.
A Sunday Morning at Middle School Youth
Here’s how our Sunday mornings work for middle schoolers at City Grace.
Worship Together
Middle schoolers start the morning in the main sanctuary, worshiping alongside their families and the rest of the church. We believe it’s important for students to see adults engaged in worship and to be part of the larger church body—not siloed away from it.
Head to Class After Music
Once the worship music ends, middle schoolers are dismissed to head to the Kids Ministry building. Adult volunteers are stationed to guide students and ensure a smooth transition.
Discipleship Time
Upstairs in the Kids Ministry building, students gather to be led by caring adult volunteers. This is where the real connection happens—discussions, questions, laughter, and learning together.
Free Play
After service ends, the students are welcome to stay and play games like foosball or ping pong until 10:30am; they are also free to check themselves out.
9:00 AM Service Only
Middle School Youth meets during our 9:00 AM service. This allows families to attend the 11:00 AM service together if preferred, or have the rest of Sunday free.
The New City Catechism
We use the New City Catechism to help students build a solid foundation of biblical truth.
A catechism is simply a series of questions and answers designed to teach core Christian beliefs. The New City Catechism contains 52 questions covering essential doctrines—from “What is God?” to “What hope does everlasting life give us?”
Why We Love This Approach
Your Student Is In Good Hands
Secure Check-In
Every student checks in when they arrive so we know who’s in the building. We take your student’s safety seriously.
Two-Leader Minimum
We always have at least two volunteers leading each week; adult volunteers have background-checks completed every 2 years. This ensures accountability, proper supervision, and a safe environment for every student.
Leaders Who Care
Our volunteers aren’t just supervisors—they’re mentors who genuinely care about your student. They’re here to listen, encourage, and point students to Christ.
More Than Just a Class
Middle School Youth isn’t a lecture hall. It’s a community where students actually want to be. Here’s what your student can expect:
Learning
Biblical teaching that’s relevant to their lives—not dumbed down, but accessible and engaging.
Fun & Games
Laughter, energy, and activities that help students connect with each other and actually enjoy being there.
Friendships
The chance to build real friendships with peers who share their faith—relationships that can last for years.
Prizes & Celebrations
Recognition for Scripture memory, participation, and growth—because celebrating wins matters.
Quarterly Fun Event
Our volunteers love to throw a quarterly fun event for the Middle School Youth so please keep an eye on the events page so you know when the next one is coming up! This is a great opportunity for students to invite a friend and for our leaders to build deeper friendships with the students in a fun and engaging way.
